The Village Gate: Where religious progressives gather

The Village Gate: ‘This will be a place for religious progressives to gather in order to listen and proclaim, to encourage and console one another, and to seek justice and peace.’  [→ READ ]

Allen at The Right Christians announces The Village Gate:

In ancient Israel, townspeople gathered at the village gate to discuss community issues and do justice. It was at the village gate that Boaz “acquired” Ruth. It was at the gate where the Israelites are instructed to dispense the often brutal punishments decreed in Deuteronomy. Lamentations bemoans that the elders have abandoned their place at the city gate as Jerusalem falls.

It is hoped that this will be a place for religious progressives to gather in order to listen and proclaim, to encourage and console one another, and to seek justice and peace. Through the marvels of technology, we who are scattered across a continent, even a globe, can gather here in the tradition of an earlier time.
