Test entry from Archipelago. Trying out Archipelago, "a XML-RPC based editor for Manila, Radio, and web sites that support the Blogger API and MetaWeblog API. It currently runs on MacOS 9, and OS X."

The voice of America: speaking out against war in Iraq. Horst alerts me to Simon Tisdall's column in The Guardian, The voice of America: Only his people can stop Bush now--and many are speaking out against war in Iraq.

I find this article comforting; it reminds me I am not alone. I am definitely part of "the anti-Bush, silenced majority [that] feels it is being ignored by politicians and the mainstream media."

I understand the person from Missouri who's quoted as saying, "This man [Bush] is destroying our nation piece by piece. We, the unheard American public, pray that the world realises that we have a fool in charge and he does not speak for us."

When the aardvark speaks . . . For a visual feast and to meet an interesting person, go visit Horst at The Aardvark Speaks. Horst listed this blog in his annotated List of blogs and frankly, I'm honored. Delighted to meet you, Horst. Thanks!

Blogging a dog's life, waiting for adoption
Dakota the LabPerhaps stirred by Steph's and my attempts to rescue another bouvier--and definitely by the ongoing heroism displayed by Bill and the folks at Second Chance Bouvier Rescue--my friend Martin and his family have decided to provide a foster home for a dog awaiting adoption.

And then he created a weblog to document the dog's stay there. What a cool idea!

Dakota's Journey (the chronicle of Dakota's search for a "forever" home)

(This is obviously a different Dakota than the bouvier we tried to adopt. Maybe there's some synchronicity in play here?)

Cream for Vim text editor. Just stumbled onto Cream for Vim--"it takes the bitterness out!" Very nice.

Cream is a configuration of the famous Vim text editor to make it easier to use, like Apple or Windows software you already know.

I like Vim, I admire Bram (its author), and--ever since I heeded Vim's charityware status and diverted one paycheck's tithe to ICCF to help needy children in Kibaale, Uganda--I find a wonderful sense of being part of something bigger than I am when I use it. (More at Algorithms in Africa; scroll down to "Vim in Uganda.")

21-Oct-2002 Reminder: New Riders has published Steve Oualline's Vi IMproved - Vim reference book online (its Amazon listing here).
