liveTopics and categorization

Rick Klau on liveTopics and categorization. I’m excited about liveTopics much as Rick is but, as usual for me, it’s an intuitive excitement I haven’t put into words yet. Rick to the rescue:

liveTopics creat[es] an outline of all posts to my blog, sorted by topic. The result is a far better navigation tool for my blog - because it increases the likelihood that anyone interested in a particular item (myself included) will be able to find it quickly.

Blogs as KM, nice work weblog precedent

Interesting: Rick Klau’s Blogs as KM - One State’s Efforts. Refers to David McNamee’s work weblog in which he “narrat[es] his work and keep[s] his co-workers updated about where his head is at on any given day.”

Satirical propaganda poster artist extraordinaire

Micah Wright does excellent work creating satirical poster art at his site, Modern Propaganda Posters for Bush’s America (“A Message from the Ministry of Homeland Security”).

John Farr: A simple sense of dread

John Farr, in his post A Simple Sense of Dread, expresses his feelings about our U.S. leadership debacle. In doing so he nails my own feelings exactly. Thanks, John.

Erik Noble: On XML aggregators and custom referers

Erik notes in his aggregator referral commentary post that you can customize your news aggregator’s referrer URL. He calls this “one of the easiest and best opportunities to bring new traffic to [your] site. If I know you are reading my site, I’m very inclined to come check out yours—if I know what it is.”

What do you know? I’d never thought of this. So I’ve edited my Radio aggregatorData.prefs.appSignatureUrl entry as Dave suggests, pointing to here.

Thanks for the tip, Erik.

Go read this before-and-after-9/11 summary of the U.S. stance toward the Taliban in Afghanistan: Amazing facts about Afghanistan.

And you thought the war(s) without end were about Democracy. Silly you.

Fax your U.S. representatives

Taking a clue from David Weinberger, I’ve faxed the following message to my Congress folk, Sen. Thompson, Sen. Frist, and Rep. Bryant (via the Common Cause CauseNet Action Center fax form):

Please do whatever is necessary to reign in [the president]. Do not grant him free will to attack Iraq or any other country without Congressional approval.

Congress is our guarantee against the lunatic actions of any one person. I want you to vote for what you believe right, not for what any particular president tells you. And I want uncoerced agreement among many of you before we employ military force anywhere.

I believe that attacking Iraq is not necessary but is Bush’s personal vendetta. I believe our recent behavior as a nation demonstrates we have become a global bully, one unwilling to adhere to laws, treaties, and codes of conduct we impose on others. []

Be courageous; intervene. Remember why you went to Washington in the first place.

Thank you.
