Fax your U.S. representatives
Note to self: Stewing, preaching, teaching, and venting concerning U.S. leadership has no moral teeth until you let your representatives know where you stand. And in my case, two of my three representatives have changed since last time I contacted them.
So this time I reeled in my rage and disappointment and faxed the following, with as much courtesy as I could muster, to Sen. Bill Frist, Sen. Lamar Alexander, and Rep. Marsha Blackburn (once again using the CauseNet Action Center fax form).
Greetings.
Constituent update:
I vigorously oppose war with Iraq. I believe it is a profoundly bad idea that makes worse the problem it purports to address — terrorism. We ourselves are behaving as a rogue nation, willing to defy the UN Security Council, displaying a right-to-invade arrogance that will inflame further anti-U.S. sentiment.
- Please act to oppose war in every instance short of last resort.
- Act to restore U.S. credibility as reliable global citizen.
- Act to restore the U.S. Congress to its crucial role as functional check-and-balance to Executive Branch power.
Thank you.
I saved as topics for upcoming messages my opposition to the in-process, inexcusable Patriot II act and the sell-out-our-children’s-future massive deficit budget.
