I attend a Dean meetup. I find hope.
I’ve never been politically active before. But I’ve never been aghast at my country’s leadership before, either. My lethargy is broken. I cannot be silent now; I cannot not act.
So I attended my first Howard Dean for President meetup tonight. Wow, kindred spirits! And lots of them. I am not alone. Yes!
Find out more about Dr. Dean at Howard Dean for America.
2003-06-18 update: I see an interesting comment to Billmon’s Lean Mean Dean Machine? — BTW, Billmon isn’t yet supporting Dean, he’s just observing — from N in Seattle —
The pundits and commentators (and the DLC, for that matter) seriously misread Dean’s supporters. It isn’t that he’s “appealing to the activists” (read: the near-Green leftists), but that he’s creating activists.
Yep.
I really like one of Stephen’s reasons why Dean has a chance to win —
Howard Dean has the charisma and the cojones to go toe to toe against Bush. Dubya’s handlers won’t let this happen more than absolutely necessary, but if and when it does, Dean will eat him for lunch.
And paradox! —
Dean is no liberal. He’s a real fighter for human causes that mean so much to me: peace, justice, employment, equality, health care, TRUTH.
Thanks, all.
I had the same experience. I’m now energized for Dean, and I’ve never been energized for anyone before.
Frankly, I blame Bush. Three and a half years of his nonsense gives me a burning desire to support a reasonable alternative.
